Roaring Forties to tour Europe and England in August
The Roaring Forties are very excited to be heading off to the northern hemisphere to escape the Australian winter 🙂 in August. We’ll be performing at festivals in Brittany, The Netherlands and the UK and doing a few other gigs along the way. We’ll also be doing a small amount of sightseeing…
Paimpol – Festival du Chant de Marin Friday 9th – Sunday 11th, August.
The festival is all set for new adventures “to the islands”, the theme of the eleventh festival to be held in Paimpol, Brittany.
“To the islands”… What comes into mind but sea and sun, sandy beaches and swaying coconut palms, ukuleles and wahines… And who knows? You might run across all these on Paimpol harbour in 2013. But you might also be in for a few surprises, for among the islands are Tahiti and the West Indies, but also Corsica and Japan, Australia and Ushant, Ireland and Bréhat, not to forget Iceland and Cape Verde, or even the Île aux Coudres in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, Quebec…
A vast subject indeed, which the Festival intends to explore with no other ambition than sparking your imagination and filling Paimpol harbour with joy and contentment.

“Bie Daip” International Shanty Festival Friday 23rd – Sunday 25th August
“Bie Daip”, held in Appingedam in the northern part of the Netherlands, has come to be recognized as on par with the most important international maritime festivals of Germany, Poland, France and the United Kingdom. Its high standing, visible in the line-up of top-notch performers invited yearly to Appingedam, is further confirmed by its potential as a career-launching event to younger groups, who wish to attain success and recognisability in the international world of maritime music.
Fans of maritime culture universally acknowledge that “Bie Daip” is a cultural event of format marvellously catering to the needs of each sincere shanty-minded audience. With a variety of international artists performing on the main stage and in numerous other locations, including public places and open access terraces, with supporting events, such as boat trips with festival performances on board, with concerts of the invited international guests in the splendid Nicholaï Church on the Saturday night, the “Bie Daip” has become one of the audience’s favorites in the scale of Europe.
The Roaring Forties have 9 x 25 minute concerts in various venues around the town; an hour-long cruise; and three opportunities to participate in singing with all the other groups:

Hello, lovely people of The Roaring Fourties!
First compliment for your website! A lot of information about your group.
I have met you in Holland. And enjoyed your perfomence at Bie Daip-Appingedam. The cd ‘Live of Brine’ remembers me that Saterday evening.
Next year our group shall perform at Bie Daip. We must do our best then, ’cause Roaring Fourties were last year in town!
I hope you all have had a good time in Europe. Best wishes from Holand!

Thanks Brigit, we had a wonderful time on our trip to Europe – good luck for next year at Bie Daip!
